Kyoto
Located at the basin of Kizu River in southern Kyoto Prefecture,
between Nara and Kyoto, Minami Yamashiro is scattered with early
temples that convey the tradition of Buddhist faith from the Nara
period (710?794) on. The Kyoto National Museum has conducted
surveys of the Buddhist statues, decorative arts, calligraphy, and
paintings from the temples in this area and will hold a special
exhibition to introduce the numerous outstanding works of Buddhist
art from this quiet mountain village.
KYOTO NATIONAL MUSEUM closes it from December 16, 2013 to April 21,
2014.
